A Realistic Guide for Newbie Online Business Marketer’s

A Realistic Guide for Newbie Online Business Marketer’s

What is very apparent in our daily lives is that the “line” between fact and fiction has become very thin and in many cases blurred?

The problem being is that there is always a portion of truth that is used to legitimize and present something or to win over a point of view.

The general doctrine presented by most online business marketers is that it’s easy and inexpensive to get started making good money selling products and services on the internet.

The commonly understood fact that 90 percent of online business marketers fail to make any money is quickly swept aside with the latest ground breaking training solution or internet tool guaranteed to work “or you get your money back” offers.

Online Business Marketing:

Online business marketing is a business and like any other business it takes resources, tools, skills, experience and more than a little luck to become successful at it.

In fact it’s a very complex business that many successful marketers break down into three basic steps:

  1. Find and position yourself in a profitable product niche
  2. Build a sizable list of motivated prospects
  3. Market similar products to your list

Rather than going directly into detail about these three steps with a long dialog I will cut to the chase.

The key to making money on the internet is being able to consistently attract large numbers of interested visitor’s to your sales sites.  Basically through a list of motivated buyers.

The more skilled you are at doing this and at creating converting landing pages the more sales conversions you are going to get.

Newbie’s are lucky to get conversions of 2 or 3 percent, whereas established professionals can get up to 30 percent visitor prospect conversions.

It’s a numbers game that many “would be” marketers will not succeed at and will spend many hours and thousands of dollars attempting to attract interested visitors to their niches.

Here I must say that I’m not yet a successful online marketer and in my view a lot depends on your natural ability to market yourself and present value propositions to prospective online clients.

Many so called successful guru’s make their money by providing newbie online marketing training. Of course, they make most of their money from selling their own marketing tools and related “tools of the trade” affiliate products sales as part of the training.

These Clickbank sales are then used to show that they are successful at affiliate sales for future training prospects.

This is a lucrative captive market area as we know as newbie’s because when we provide a name and email address for some information we then get bombarded with daily emails about “must see” opportunities.

If you’re not into marketing to online marketing newbie’s then creating a successful online business in today’s environment is a much greater challenge.

How to succeed at Online Business Marketing:

Create a brand, create a following, become an authority, an internet presence or become a celebrity. All these things are a fundamental part of online marketing training along with an understanding of how to create a market funnel to draw in visitors from various areas on the web into your niche sites to become sales prospects and valuable repeat clients.

Picking niche product areas where you have an interest and have acquired a valuable talent that can be marketed to others who are in need of your information. This talent can be a bridge to becoming an authority, creating a brand and a brand following.

Social networking is a great way to meet up with people and gain useful information and knowledge. It can also be a useful part of your marketing funnel by attracting visitor prospects to you blogs and sales pages.

They can also be a distraction that takes time away for focusing on more productive areas.

Things that you can’t easily do for yourself you need to either learn or outsource.  When outsourcing you have to become knowledgeable enough to select the best available options. Unfortunately this is an area where many people fail.

There are many areas on the internet that provide an opportunity to attract clients. Most people pick one or two areas to become successful at. All these areas take time to master; success is not created over night.  If you’re lucky enough go viral with a campaign success may only be fleeting if you don’t have the knowledge to leverage it.

The principles for becoming successful in different marketing areas are similar, these areas will be covered with future blogs on article writing, email marketing, YouTube video and creating copy. In all these areas creating value, providing a quality product and generating interest is essential to being successful.

Online Business Marketing Costs:

Many online business marketers like to attract newbie clients by telling them how cheap and easy it is to get started.  In fact success is more usually the result of a significant investment in either professional time or dollar investments.

True, a website landing page, hosting and AWeber forms/responders are inexpensive. Putting up a landing page can be done in about half an hour. However, because it is easy there are a lot of people doing it. Many who have put up a ghost site and use PPC advertizing have made a little money in the past.

Search PPC advertizing providers are becoming increasingly more restrictive, don’t like ghost page landing pages and exit pop ups preferring to prioritize their relationships with larger marketing clients.

High quality blog site themes can be created for a reasonable price.  The quality of the content and the quality of ongoing website management differentiates a successful blogging sites from the rest.

Training can be found for free, training packages that initially look cheap in many cases come with hidden costs. Either in wasted time listening to information aimed at selling your stuff you don’t need, or by locking you into hosting and website product subscriptions that don’t meet your longer term needs.

High quality internet hosting and support can be found that is less expensive than some that come packaged through internet training providers. Many so called easy website framework solutions provided by trainers for non technical users are full of underlying deficiencies.

Building a Successful Online Marketing Business:

If you have made it through to this part of the blog then you may have what it takes to be successful. As dogged determination and the ability to stick things through to a successful conclusion is a major factor for online marketing success.

For newbie’s it takes time to attract interested visitors and to generate a client list.

The best way to get started is to leverage authority that’s already available on the Web and to focus on areas where you can gain authority relatively quickly.

A personal blogging website should be a high priority because it is your brand and gives you the opportunity to dominate a category of your choosing by creating a unique category and market following.

Write about things that you know about, that are of value and well presented and daily visitors will soon find your website.

Creating a presence on social networking sites forums and public article sites is the quickest way to create an internet presence for your brand.  Having memberships in these groups allows you to add high quality links back to your site which also attracts visitors to your website. Some of these visitors will also be looking for reciprocal backlinks from your site.

The key to success is providing fresh content that attract both search engine traffic and motivated website visitors.

Summary:

Don’t be distracted by the internet marketing hype because many of the online business marketing products and training packaged don’t live up to expectations.
